Taber Abrasion Tester:Precision Surface Wear Testing Instrument

Time: Popularity:0times

The Taber Abrasion Resistance Tester, also known as Taber Abraser or Taber Abrader, is a precision instrument used to evaluate the wear resistance of materials and finished products. Equipped with a rotary platform and dual abrading wheels, it provides reliable, repeatable, and accurate abrasion testing for a wide range of materials including leather, textiles, coatings, paints, glass, ceramics, paper, laminates, rubber, and plastics.

The single-platform design features a precision drive system and transmission device, ensuring smooth, low-noise operation for a comfortable and dependable testing experience.

Taber Abrasion Resistance Tester

Application Fields

Textiles & Fabrics: Evaluate wear resistance of cotton, polyester, blended fabrics, and nonwovens.

Leather & Coatings: Test abrasion durability of natural leather, synthetic leather, paints, and varnishes.

Plastics & Rubber: Assess surface wear performance of plastics, rubber, and elastomers.

Paper & Packaging: Determine wear resistance of cardboard, laminates, and printed materials.

Ceramics & Glass: Test decorative and functional wear properties.

Industrial Quality Control: Used in R&D and QC labs to improve material durability and predict service life.

Test Principle

Mount the specimen on the rotary turntable (specimen holder).

Two abrasive wheels attached to pivoted arms rub against the sample under a controlled downward pressure.

Driven by the turntable, one wheel moves inward toward the center, and the other moves outward toward the edge.

Abrasion resistance is assessed by average mass/volume loss of the specimen or the number of cycles to reach the end-point.
