Test Procedures

Set the airflow of the smoke exhaust system, remove the simulated sample, close the sample access door, ignite the radiant panel, and allow the apparatus to preheat for at least 1 hour until the chamber temperature stabilizes.

Measure the blackbody temperature of the radiant panel. If the blackbody temperature and chamber temperature are outside the given temperature range, adjust the gas/air input to the radiant panel.

Mount the test specimen on the specimen holder, ignite the igniter, and position it at least 50 mm away from the zero point of the specimen. Move the sliding platform into the test chamber and immediately close the sample access door. The test begins.

Keep the igniter at least 50 mm away from the zero point of the specimen. After a 2-minute preheating period, bring the igniter into contact with the specimen at a distance of 10 mm from the inner edge of the specimen holder, as specified.

Allow the ignition flame to contact the specimen for 10 minutes, then remove the igniter, positioning it at least 50 mm away from the zero point, and extinguish the ignition flame.

During the test, record the time when the flame reaches each 50 mm mark and the furthest distance reached by the flame front at that moment. The test should be concluded after 30 minutes.

The next test cannot be performed if the blackbody temperature and chamber temperature do not meet the specified requirements.
