Product Introduction:
Air permeability is defined as the volume of air that passes through a unit area of a textile fabric in a given time under a prescribed pressure difference across the fabric. A Textile Airflow Resistance Tester provides a quantitative measure of this property.
The testing process involves clamping a specimen of the textile fabric into a test head, ensuring that the area surrounding the test region is sealed. A controlled airflow is then directed through the fabric, typically by using a vacuum pump to draw air through the specimen or a pressure source to push air through. The instrument maintains a constant, specified pressure difference across the fabric specimen. Simultaneously, the volume or rate of air passing through the fabric is accurately measured by a flow meter.
The air permeability is calculated automatically by the instrument's software based on the measured airflow rate, the test area of the specimen, and the applied pressure difference, and is typically reported in units such as cubic feet per minute per square foot (ft³/min/ft²), cubic centimeters per second per square centimeter (cm³/s/cm²), or liters per square meter per second (L/m²/s). The test is usually performed on dry, conditioned specimens. Different test heads with varying orifice sizes are available to accommodate fabrics with a wide range of air permeability.
