Cigarette paper smoldering performance tester

The cigarette paper smoldering performance tester, also called smoldering or burning instrument, is developed per the "National Standard for cigarette paper". It's a specialized device to assess cigarette paper's smoldering performance. Under set conditions, a sample smolders, and its burning time over a smoldering distance is measured to determine its burning characteristics.

Application

This instrument is used to measure the smoldering performance of cigarette paper. It subjects a cigarette paper sample to smoldering under specified conditions and then measures the smoldering distance and burning time.

Test Procedures

Power-on self-test: Turn on the power switch. The instrument will perform a self-test. After the LCD displays the relevant information, it will enter standby mode. At this time, the yellow LED on the control panel will light up.
Sample installation: Open the cover, horizontally push the sample into the end of the test slot and straighten it. After 3 seconds, the clamping device will automatically clamp the sample. Close the cover.
Start testing: Press the [Start] button. The instrument will automatically ignite the sample. After the paper disc is ignited, it will burn automatically. When the burning reaches the first photoelectric receiving point, the system will indicate that the test has started and begin timing.
Observation and recording: The support rod will descend with the progress of the burning. When the burning reaches the last photoelectric receiving point, the system timing ends, and the test results are displayed on the screen.
Subsequent processing: After a few seconds, the exhaust fan will operate to remove the smoke. After the test is completed, remove the ash tray for cleaning. You can press the [A] button to display the results, press the [Print] button to print, and you can also query the results using key combinations.
