Test Procedures

1. Place the instrument on a workbench at an appropriate height, and adjust the leveling bolts so that all four feet are firmly in contact with the workbench surface.

2. Hold the cam handle with your right hand and rotate it clockwise to lift the pressure rod and the weight attached to the right side of the pressure rod.

3. Adjust the height of the presser foot according to the thickness of the sample. Different material thicknesses require different height adjustments. Then, clean the base plate and the presser foot surface, and place the presser foot on the base plate, aligning the triangular blade on the presser foot with the V-shaped groove under the pressure rod.

4. Insert the dial indicator into the indicator holder hole. When the measuring head touches the upper end of the presser foot, move it slightly downwards by 0.1-0.2 mm, tighten the screw, and zero the indicator.

5. Lift the presser foot, place the sample between the base plate and the presser foot, and lower the presser foot so that the sample is subjected to a pressure of 2 kPa ± 0.01 kPa.  Simultaneously start the stopwatch. After 30 seconds of pressure, read the dial indicator value.

6. For testing the sample under 20 kPa pressure, rotate the cam handle clockwise to lift the pressure rod, then lift the presser foot, place the sample between the base plate and the presser foot, lower the presser foot, and attach the hook weight. Hold the cam handle with your right hand and rotate it counterclockwise so that the weight of the pressure rod is completely supported by the triangular blade of the presser foot. Simultaneously start the stopwatch. After 30 seconds of pressure, read the dial indicator value.

7. For testing the sample under 200 kPa pressure, rotate the cam handle clockwise to lift the pressure rod, then lift the presser foot, place the sample between the base plate and the presser foot, lower the presser foot, and attach both the hook weight and two additional weights. Hold the cam handle with your right hand and rotate it counterclockwise so that the weight of the pressure rod and the weights are completely supported by the triangular blade of the presser foot. Simultaneously start the stopwatch. After 30 seconds of pressure, read the dial indicator value.
