Geotextiles are fabrics made primarily from synthetic fibers through processes such as needle punching and heat bonding. They possess excellent water permeability, high strength, and corrosion resistance, and can effectively separate, filter, and drain, making them widely used in various fields such as soil stabilization, drainage, and erosion control. Based on the materials used, geotextiles can be divided into two main categories: non-woven fabrics and woven fabrics.

Application

The equivalent pore diameter of geotextile and its related products was determined by dry screening method. The geotextile sample is used as the screen cloth, the standard particle material with known diameter is placed on the geotextile above the vibrating screen, and the sieve rate is calculated by weighing the standard particle material weight of ten industrial cloth, and the sample is replaced by the standard particle material with different diameters. The aperture distribution curve of the textile is drawn and the value of 090 is obtained.

Test Procedures

1. Remove the clamp, lay the sample flat and evenly on the support grid without applying force, then press it down with the clamp. The sample should remain horizontal.

2. Evenly sprinkle the granular material selected according to the standard onto the sample.

3. Connect the power supply and turn on the power switch.

4. Set the vibration time on the timer (according to GB/T17634 standard, it can be set to 600 seconds).

5. Connect a stabilized water source to the water inlet, place the showerhead inside the transparent cover, cover with the splash guard, open the flow control valve, and spray water onto the sample.

6. Press the start button to begin the test.

7. Collect the particles that pass through the sample from the collection trough.

8. After the set time is reached, stop the instrument from vibrating.

9. Collect the granular material that did not pass through and the sample.

10. Organize and calculate the test results according to the relevant standards.

11. After the test is completed, turn off the power and clean the instrument.
