Geotextile equivalent aperture tester (wet sieve method)

The geotextile equivalent pore size tester (wet sieving method) is an instrument used to determine the effective pore size of geotextiles and related products. This instrument conforms to the GB/T17634 standard and is suitable for determining the effective pore size of all types of geotextile products.

Application

The equivalent pore diameter of geotextile and its related products was determined by wet screen method. The geotextile sample without tension is used as the screen, and the sample and graded particle material are sprayed with water under the specified vibration frequency and amplitude to make the graded particle material pass through the sample. The effective pore size of the specimen is expressed by the specific particle size of the passing particle material.

Test Procedures

Sample Preparation: Select a sample from the material, ensuring the sample is laid flat and not folded.

Sampling: Select samples from the material according to GB/T 13760 standard, cutting 5 samples of a size suitable for the sieving instrument used.

Sample Appearance: The sample should be clean, free from deposits and visible damage or creases on the surface.

Equipment: The sieving device should have a frequency of 50-60 Hz, a vertical vibration amplitude of 1.5 mm for the main vibration sieve cap, a water supply system, and nozzles to ensure uniform wetting of the sample.

Water Spraying: Spray water onto the sample and graded granular material at the specified vibration frequency and amplitude, allowing the granular material to pass through the sample opening.

Material Collection: Collect the granular material that passes through the sample, perform a particle size distribution test, and plot the cumulative percentage of particles passing through versus sieve size.

Pore Size Calculation: Mark the pore size corresponding to d95 or d90 on the curve, representing the effective pore size O95 or O90 of the sample.
