Dynamic Seam Fatigue Tester

The Dynamic Seam Fatigue Tester is a dynamic seam fatigue tester specifically designed to measure the strength of seams in upholstery covered with standard composite foam padding. This tester works by applying cyclic loads in the form of pressure, impact, and penetration to the seam surface to assess its durability and resistance to damage.

Function and Application:

This tester is used to test the three most common types of seams in upholstery:

Warp-to-warp (wale-to-wale) seams

Filling-to-fill (course-to-course) seams

Warp-to-fill (wale-to-course) seams

Working Principle:

A fabric sample with seams is mounted on a test stand equipped with elastic foam padding. Then, a rubber-coated wheel with a specific weight is dropped from a predetermined height to repeatedly impact the fabric surface. This process is carried out automatically until the required number of test cycles is reached, after which the seams are inspected for damage.

A 127mm (5") diameter rubber-faced wheel impacts the fabric from a height of 150mm (6") with a mass of 3.75 kg (8.25 lbs), 25 times per minute for 7,000 cycles. Additionally, the Dynamic Seam Fatigue Tester has three working positions and six positions, complying with the requirements. Moreover, it can perform 23 or 27 cycles per minute. Thus, it can operate at a relatively high speed.
