Meet the standard:

ASTM D2486  ISO 11998

ASTM D4213  DIN 53778

Product Introduction:

The resistance of a surface finish to brushing or scrubbing is a key performance indicator, particularly for applications like interior paints, floor coatings, and durable finishes on furniture or appliances that are subjected to cleaning. A Brush Resistance Tester provides a controlled and repeatable method to quantify this resistance.

The test involves mounting a specimen of the coated substrate onto a flat, secure holder on the tester. A standardized brush, typically with specified bristle material, dimensions, and stiffness, is mounted in a brush holder above the specimen. A controlled downward force or weight is applied to the brush, ensuring consistent pressure between the brush bristles and the specimen surface. A motorized mechanism then moves the brush back and forth across the surface of the specimen in a linear, reciprocating motion over a defined stroke length.

The instrument is used in laboratories for:

Evaluating the scrub or brush resistance and washability of paints, varnishes, and other surface coatings.

Assessing the durability of finishes on walls, floors, furniture, and other products that may be cleaned with brushes.

Quality control during the manufacturing of coatings and finished products to ensure they meet abrasion resistance specifications.

Research and development of new coating formulations with improved durability and scrub resistance.

Comparing the brush resistance of different coating types, application methods, or substrates.

Ensuring compliance with product performance standards related to washability and durability.

Product Advantages:

Provides objective, quantitative measurement of a surface's resistance to brushing or scrubbing abrasion.

Essential for evaluating the durability and washability of paints and coatings.

Simulates cleaning actions encountered in real-world use.

Standard compliant test methods (ASTM D2486. ISO 11998) are widely used.

Useful for quality control, product development, material comparison, and failure analysis.

Allows for controlled testing under defined conditions of force, speed, and scrubbing medium.

Can test multiple specimens simultaneously for increased efficiency.

Product Features:

Flat base plate or specimen holder designed to securely mount flat coated panels or specimens.

Brush holder mechanism designed to accept a standardized brush (e.g., specified bristle material, dimensions, weight).

System for applying a controlled and consistent downward force or weight onto the brush, pressing it against the specimen surface.

Motorized reciprocating mechanism to move the brush back and forth across the specimen surface in a linear stroke.

Digital cycle counter to accurately record the number of scrub cycles performed.

System for applying the scrubbing medium to the specimen surface during the test (e.g., drip dispenser, peristaltic pump for controlled delivery of liquid or abrasive slurry).
