Test Procedures

1. Three experienced observers should independently rate each processed sample (multiple washing cycles, including hand washing and machine washing, with specified program selections).  The items to be rated are the smoothness of the fabric appearance after washing, the crease retention of the fabric after washing, and the smoothness of the seam appearance after washing.

2. Place the sample on the observation board, paying attention to the placement direction (with the warp direction of the fabric as the vertical direction, the creases as the vertical direction, and the seams as the vertical direction). Carefully place the sample, ensuring it is not deformed and maintains its appearance before evaluation. Place the standard reference samples on both sides of the sample. The standard reference samples used for smoothness are 3D appearance smoothness samples, the samples used for crease retention are plastic crease samples, and the samples used for seam smoothness are single and double needle seam samples.

3. The observer should stand directly in front of the sample, 1.2m away from the observation board. Normal variations in the observer's viewing height around 1.5m above eye level are considered to have no significant effect on the rating results.

4. Suspended fluorescent lights should be the only light source for the observation board; all other lights should be turned off. Based on the experience of many observers, light reflected from the side walls near the observation board may affect the rating results.

5. Determine the grade of the standard reference sample that most closely matches the appearance of the sample. Note that the 3D appearance smoothness samples have 6 levels, and crease retention and seam smoothness have 5 levels, with level 5 being the best and level 1 being the worst.

6. The same observer should independently rate the other two samples. The other two observers should proceed in the same manner, independently determining the grades.

7. The final grade of the sample is determined by averaging the ratings of the three observers for each sample. This is the final rating result for the sample.
