The Bundesmann Rain Tester simulates natural rainfall to evaluate the water repellency, wetting behavior, and absorption characteristics of textiles, including waterproof fabrics. The instrument features a rainfall unit with 300 uniform drips and a test-driving unit with rotating sample cups and cross-shaped wipers, ensuring precise and repeatable testing conditions.

Features

(1) Rainfall portion consists of 300 identical drips for uniform precipitation.

(2) Test-driving portion has four sample cups with an outer diameter of 10 cm.

(3) Sample cups are mounted at 15° from vertical for realistic simulation.

(4) Each cup includes a sample installation box and cross-shaped wiper that gently rubs the fabric underside.

(5) Cups rotate around the instrument center, ensuring consistent exposure.

(6) Rainfall intensity is adjustable via a valve (100–300 ml/min per 100 cm²).

(7) Cross-wiper ensures uniform friction and contact pressure for accurate results.

Test Procedures

(1) Install the fabric sample in the test cup.

(2) Position the cross-wiper beneath the fabric.

(3) Set rainfall intensity using the valve.

(4) Activate cup rotation and rainfall simulation.

(5) Monitor water absorption, surface wetting, and outflow.

(6) Record results displayed on the screen.

(7) Remove the sample and clean the device after testing.

Maintenance Information

(1) Clean the rainfall unit and drip nozzles to prevent blockage.

(2) Inspect cross-wipers and sample cups regularly for wear.

(3) Check rotation speed and wiper pressure periodically.

(4) Store the instrument in a dry, ventilated environment.
