Scientists have developed a new type of nanomaterial bandage

Czech scientists have developed a new type of antibacterial nanomaterial bandage - NANO LPPO, which can be used to treat skin wounds caused by burns and bacterial infections. The material has completed the first phase of the experiment and needs further clinical testing and verification. The results of the relevant research are published in the Scientific Report.colTextile Testing Instruments, Testing Equipment Manufacturer

Dominik Rejmans team from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences collaborated with Libor Krasnys team from the Institute of Microbiology to develop an antibacterial compound - lipoxyphosphoprotein (LPPO). This substance does not need to penetrate bacteria, but directly acts on the surface of bacteria, destroying their cell membranes, thus efficiently and quickly eliminating bacteria, and drug resistance has not yet been found in experiments.colTextile Testing Instruments, Testing Equipment Manufacturer

Based on this research, David Lukass team from the Technical University of Liberez in the Czech Republic developed NANO LPPO using polymer nanofibers as carriers. Nanomaterials will be decomposed into harmless molecules under the action of enzymes, and LPPO will be gradually released during the decomposition process. The degradation enzymes produced by bacteria will significantly accelerate this process. The more bacteria there are in the wound, the faster the material decomposes, and the more active substances are released, which can effectively promote the healing and regeneration of soft tissue. Mouse model experiments have shown that NANO LPPO can prevent wound infection and accelerate wound healing.colTextile Testing Instruments, Testing Equipment Manufacturer
