According to a report by Harbin News Agency on March 28th, the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Omarov, recently stated at the first meeting of the Harbin Land Reform Commission that since 2015, local administrative agencies in Kazakhstan have been exercising national regulatory functions for unused land. In 2019, Kazakhstan revised its laws related to land use. Starting from January 2020, a pilot project for land use satellite measurement and remote sensing monitoring was launched in Akmora Oblast, Dongha Oblast, Kustanai Oblast, and Mangystau Oblast. As of December 2020, the pilot project has been completed and a total of 8.3 million hectares of unused agricultural land have been discovered, including 7.6 million hectares of pastures and 700000 hectares of arable land.
