Minor repair of a mechanical analytical balance:
The balance used sometimes requires inspection and adjustment (minor repair) of parts other than the beam. as follows.
Optical Reading System
The optical path is not normal and the cardboard strip is temporarily clipped to the electrical switch under the case to keep the light on.
Put a small piece of translucent white paper at the light exit of the condenser tube, adjust the position of the lamp head to make the spot of light on the paper round, bright and large; remove the white paper to match the two. The flat mirror makes youe bright projection surface; adjust the lens barrel to make the display clear. Finally, turn on the balance check and the difference scale image should be horizontal and centered at the top and bottom of the projection screen.
Dampers
To check that the gap around the inner and outer damper boxes is even:
Make sure the scale is level; remove the plate bracket;
Make sure the top part of the inner and outer box has an even gap when the plate is hung; press the top down Use your hand to tilt the side of the inner box until the bottom part touches it. For the outer box, the perceived bottom gap should be equal to the gap on the opposite side, assessed using the same method. Then check for the opposite side of the bottom gap in the vertical directiondirection should also be the same.
Try changing the direction of the inner box if the distance is not equal, and then adjust the position of the outer box if it is invalid. It is also not possible to remove the outer box and observe whether the inner box is hung askew. If yes, adjust the ring so that the inner box is flat and straight.
Install the outer box, making sure the outer box is also straight. Then adjust the position of the outer box to make the distance between inner and outer box equal.
The gap is normal and there is still friction. Take out the inner carton, wipe it and check if fibers are stuck to the surface under the lamp.
Slits
Visually check that each slit is parallel to itself, that the two side slits are equal, that the side slitsare smaller and that the middle slots are slightly larger.
Remove the tray holder and slowly open the lift knob. As the beam falls, note that the two edge slits should disappear simultaneously, then the middle slit will disappear, and the front and rear corners of the same slit will also disappear simultaneously.
Watch from the side of the scale when the center knife touches the knife support. The bottom of the pointer should not bounce back and forth, indicating that the front and back angles of the center knife seam are exactly the same.
Observe under the steady light that the 0 scale of the difference scale should be centered on the left and right sides of the screen before the beam falls; the difference scale should not wobble during the fall process and the transition to the free swing should be smooth.
The knife seam does not meet the requirementsns, set the knife seam first. Take off the left and right suspension systems, adjust the support pins to support the beam so that the size of the middle knife gap is reasonable, the pointer does not jump, the 0 scale of the differential scale is in the middle, and the beam is horizontal.
Then adjust the side knife seam and see how each side looksAlign the blade and the two support pins front and back in a straight line, tilt the lifting lug (with the inner cushioning box hanging from it and plate) after opening the scales; if the lifting eye falls or tilts, the support pin needs to be moved to the other side. If the size of the side knife seam is not suitable, adjust the support pin up and down.
Mechanical encoder
It is necessary to be familiar with the normal condition of the engraver.

The upper and lower position of the overweight hook - when the overweight frame is hung with part of the hanging weight, the scale is opened and the scale swings freely in the area of the difference scale. Take the middle of the interval;
Left and Right Positions - after the hook is lowered, the bearing frame should be in the middle of each pair of hooks; fore and aft position - seen from the side of the scale when the hook moves up and down. The line connecting the two suspension points of each pair of hooks should pass through the corresponding groove of the frame at right angles.
Tray support
The plate support is a device that prevents the plate from swinging. It is even more difficult to adjust the pan and the heavy pan at the same timetimely. The closed scale no longer oscillates with the base, but there is no guarantee that the suspension system is in an independent and stable position. Once the scales open and leave the pad, it swings instead.
In practice, there are also those who do not use the pan support, but gently apply the brake. After adding the object to be weighed and the weight, lightly touch the larger weight (semi-mechanical weight) or plate with the tip of the tweezers to stabilize the plate;
Use the sample Gently touch the sample with a small spoon or touch the plate with a strip of paper to stabilize the plate. Under normal circumstances, the balance plate does not oscillate when it is closed, nor does it oscillate when it is opened.
Blade
I suspect something is wrong with the Klinnot true. Remove the crossbar and lightly scrape the blade with your nails. If it feels smooth, it's generally fine, but if it feels chipped or jagged, it should be sent to the factory for repair.
To remove the cross member:
Take off the hanger code and hanger system and hold the upper part of the pointer with your right hand Hold Raise the traverse slightly and open the lift with your left hand. Rotate the traverse with your right hand so that the lower part of the pointer is exposed from the left and the traverse can be removed without touching it. Be careful to protect the blade when removing and do not touch the differential label with your hands.
