How the Hot Wheels Radar Speedometer Works
A K-band microwave speedometer radar that operates on the Doppler principle.
From the Doppler principle we know that when a wave hits a moving object, the returning wave has a frequency shift and the magnitude of the frequency shift is proportional to the speed of the object moving Object.
According to this principle, we launch a microwave with a fixed frequency, then measure the frequency of the returned signal, measure its frequency shift, and then calculate the target velocity.
